Scientific and applied research
Centre for the Maritime Economics Studiesat the University of Gdańsk conducts interdisciplinary research in cooperation with national and international universities, research institutions and industry stakeholders. We also deliver applied research projects aimed at the practical implementation of research results within the maritime economy. Our work combines academic excellence with a strong focus on the needs of industry, public administration, and business support institutions.
We conduct research projects in particular in the following areas:
- maritime transport economics and seaport operations,
- logistics and supply chains in the maritime economy,
- maritime, port, and transport policy,
- energy transition and decarbonization of the maritime sector and the blue economy,
- analysis of shipping, offshore, and related industries,
- financing and performance assessment of infrastructure investments.
Our projects employ advanced quantitative methods, including statistical data analysis, econometric modelling, and scenario analysis, as well as qualitative approaches such as expert interviews, strategic workshops, document analysis, and international benchmarking.
