In addition to collaborating with the business sector and conducting research, the Centre for the Maritime Economics Studies engages in initiatives designed to familiarize students with real-world market conditions.
On April 17, a study visit to the PCC Intermodal Terminal in Kutno took place at the invitation of PCC Intermodal S.A. and on the initiative of the Department of International Business, the Department of Transport and Maritime Trade (Faculty of Economics, University of Gdańsk), and the Centre for Maritime Economy Research (UG). The PCC Kutno Terminal is the largest inland intermodal terminal in Poland in terms of the number of regular domestic and international rail connections and operational capabilities.
Participants had the opportunity to observe the practical operations of a modern intermodal terminal and engage in an inspiring discussion regarding the role of intermodal transport in contemporary supply chains—specifically focusing on current challenges within the sector amidst rapidly changing geopolitical conditions.
We would like to thank Ms. Monika Konsor-Fąferek (Marketing and Development Director) and Mr. Wojciech Skrzypiński (Kutno Terminal Director) from PCC Intermodal S.A. for the invitation and their openness to dialogue with aspiring professionals in the transport market. Representing the University of Gdańsk were Prof. Ernest Czermański, Dr. Anna Sperska, and Dr. Tomasz Laskowicz, accompanied by a group of master’s degree students.
