On April 10, 2025, the 13th National Maritime Law Conference, titled “Law in Offshore Wind Energy,” will take place. It is organized by the Department of Maritime Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk (UG), the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) Gdańsk, and the UG Centre for Maritime Economy Research. The conference will be held at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk.
The 13th National Maritime Law Conference focuses on selected issues related to the development of offshore wind energy from a Polish perspective.
As an emerging sector of the maritime economy, offshore wind energy presents an opportunity for the socio-economic development of the Pomerania region and Poland as a whole. Moreover, it addresses the challenges associated with implementing energy solutions based on offshore renewable sources and has the potential to generate thousands of new jobs in the coming years. Realizing ambitious plans to construct offshore wind farms in Poland’s Exclusive Economic Zone in the Baltic Sea is a key objective of Polish energy policy. During the conference, three panels will address selected topics concerning the most significant legal, practical, social, and economic issues surrounding offshore wind energy, with particular emphasis on the role of administrative law, environmental protection and management, and the safety of offshore wind farms. As is tradition, this year’s edition will be accompanied by a panel for young researchers, held the day before—on April 9, 2025.
The conference is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak; the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk; and the Mayor of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz.
