Mr. Ernest Czermański attended the 17th European Economic Congress in Katowice, where he served as, among other roles, the moderator of a discussion on seaports. The session addressed the question of whether Polish ports had reached the peak of their cargo handling growth. Participants discussed new prospects and investment plans for Polish ports, the appropriate scale of port overcapacity, and the expansion of inland ports—specifically, whether this is a waning trend. Furthermore, the discussion covered new approaches to port real estate, operational efficiency in the context of permanent and temporary supply chain shifts and international trade disruptions, the role of ports as energy hubs for a low-emission economy, and port security amidst rising tensions and emerging threats.
