On March 31, 2026, representatives of the Centre for the Maritime Economics Studies at the University of Gdańsk – Dr. Hab. Ernest Czermański (Professor at the University of Gdańsk) and Dr. Anna Sperska – participated in an expert debate titled “Energy Transition as a Driver of Pomerania’s Development.” The event focused on issues surrounding the energy transition and its impact on the regional development of Pomerania.
This debate launched a series of meetings organized by the Economic Advisory Team to the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, in cooperation with Pomeranian Employers and the Baltic Institute for Energy Transition, and under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk. The series is held under the overarching theme: “The Pomeranian Voivodeship as a Polish growth pole in the Baltic Sea region.” These debates bring together representatives from government, academia, and the business sector to build economic strength, define new development opportunities, and foster growth-oriented initiatives in the Pomerania region. The participation of the Centre for Maritime Economy Research in this significant regional event contributed to substantive discussions on the role of the maritime economy, offshore wind energy, logistics, and maritime transport, as well as future development directions for Pomerania amidst the transition and cooperation within the Baltic Sea region. It also marked another step affirming the Centre’s growing role and contribution to the development of the maritime economy.
