On June 19, 2023, the Director of the CBnGM spoke at a conference held as part of the “Economy, Finance, and Sustainable Development” (Wirtschaft, Finanzen und nachhaltige Entwicklung) project, delivering a presentation on the challenges and initiatives undertaken by the University of Gdańsk’s centers regarding sustainable development. The project aimed to conduct research into the impact and implementation of sustainable development- as a core value- within the economies and financial sectors of Poland and Germany. Implementing the principle of sustainable development encompasses a wide range of socio-economic activities that integrate political, economic, and social endeavors while maintaining ecological balance and the continuity of fundamental natural processes; the ultimate goal is to ensure that the basic needs of communities and citizens- both present and future- can be met. Thus, the value of sustainable development extends beyond issues strictly related to environmental protection. It also serves as a reference point for matters such as infrastructure development, the fostering of social ties, and spatial planning, thereby acquiring a universal character.
